Tanchozuru Natural Park

They say that flocks of tancho cranes came to Tsuruta in the Edo period. In 1992, the call came to “bring back the living cranes,” and in 1993 two cranes were brought from China’s Heilongjiang Province. Then, in 1997, a breeding pair was brought from the Russian state of Amur. Currently, 9 birds can be seen here year round, including those born here and some on loan from Tama Zoological Park.
