Tsugaru Traditional Craft Center/ Tsugaru Kokeshi Doll Museum
Tsugaru Traditional Craft Center evoking the traditional komise structure, has workshops preserving the skills and traditions of master craftsmen. Craftsmen offer demonstrations and classes, and visitors can see, touch and feel the history and culture of Tsugaru woven into the work of these masters. Also, at the Tsugaru Kokeshi Museum next door, visitors can see about 4,000 pieces of kokeshi and other wooden toys from all over Japan, as well as the celebrity-painted ceramics in the Kokeshi Art Collection. The Kokeshi Painting sessions (paid, reservations necessary) are also quite popular.
