Nakamachi Komise dori
Nakamachi Komise dori is a wood-covered shopping arcade (“Komise”) in a style unique to this snowy countryside. It’s lined with old-fashioned sake breweries and the “Takahashi-ke,” registered as an Important Cultural Property, and the facades remain unchanged from the feudal period. This street is valued nationwide, and has been selected as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, one of Beautiful Japan’s Top 100 Historical Scenes and Top 100 Streets.
