Hirosaki Park

Hirosaki Park lies on the grounds of a feudal castle first planned in 1603 by Tamenobu Tsugaru, the first Tsugaru lord who unified the Tsugaru area, and completed in 1611 by his successor Nobuhira. The roughly 49.2ha park holds the Tohoku area’s only castle tower. The tower was moved into the center of Honmaru for construction work in October of 2015, and it will take 5 years for it to be returned to its original location. The current tower was rebuilt in 1811.
