Mother Tree and Tsugarutoge
The average lifespan for a beech tree is about 200 years, but the Mother Tree is estimated to be 400 years old. This massive beech is the symbol of Shirakami-Sanchi. Just a 5 minutes’ walk from the Mother Tree is Tsugarutoge, where you can look out over the mountains of Shirakami-Sanchi.
