Bense Marsh
Bense Marsh is valuable academically as a coastal low wetland and a mixed sphagnum bog (a marsh with layers of peat moss), and was named one of Japan’s Top 100 Natural Spots in 1983. In mid-June the whole marsh turns golden yellow with blooming Nikkoukisuge day lilies, and as July approaches swathes of Hanashobu irises turn large areas purple, delighting the eyes of visitors.
