Fudo no Taki Waterfall
This three-stage waterfall was a sacred spot for Shugendo Buddhist monks who strove for asceticism during the Kamakura period (1185-1333). Stepping foot in the clear waters, freezing cold even in summer, is a real eye-opener! It drives home the harsh discipline of the monks praying under the waterfall. Take a leisurely stroll along the river’s footpath, lively and verdant in spring and equally beautiful in autumn with its cornucopia of rich fall colors.
