Tsugaru Traditional Kinta Mamejo Puppet Theater
This Nakadomari, Aomori folk performance is unique and has been handed down for over 100 years. The show features the heavy drinking failure Kinta and the scatterbrained but kind Mamejo. The whole story is performed in the Tsugaru dialect, and while still preserving the tradition, is open to adaptation with satire of more current events. Performances are rich in variety; in fact, there are more than ten kinds of stories! This includes but is not limited to comedic dialogs between Kinta and Mamejo.
